03. Under 10 A Division Three - last update 21-01-10

Canterbury Youth “A” 1 – 2 Chartham Sports
17-01-10 Under 10 Division 3
Today was one of those rare days we were finally going to get a game of football. The pitch was good and the sun was out it was a little cold but all that was taken away by the excitement of a good game of football. Canterbury Youth A were entertaining Chartham sports and what a game, First half and the Canterbury boys came out all guns blazing gave Chartham all sorts of defensive problems the Canterbury boys all except Jayven holder were very busy but that was because Jayven was in goal and he honestly had very little to do. After 15 mins Canterbury finally get the breakthrough they deserved some great passing play from Ben Waters and William Washington on to Henry Dwyer who put through Taylor Chandler and bang good goal Canterbury 1 - nil up and let me tell you Canterbury were not going to stop there some great defending by all especially from Kieren Carter and Sam Waters who really stopped just about anything that Chartham had to offer then a good solid tackle saw Kieren injured nothing to serious just needed some magic sponge and a break for a bit on came Nathan Allen and picked up from where the rest of the team left off.

Second half The Canterbury boys with a small change on the right Ben Waters having a break giving Gener Lilley a chance to dazzle came out with the same passion they showed in the first half and this was to be a great game for the neutral but my nerves were being tested Canterbury made their first little mistake after 10 mins which unfortunately let Chartham in and whoops 1 -1 . Never mind boys let’s keep going few tired legs starting to creep into the game so off came Taylor and Henry and on came Isaac Bartlett and Hugo Birch who again were incredible now both teams really battling out for the win Chartham's goalkeeper making some good saves and Jayven in the other goal equal to the task. Last five mins and off came William and on goes Joe Gransden. Both teams really tried their hardest to win but with literally just seconds to go it looked to be a well played draw for both teams and whoops free kick to Chartham must be the last kick of the game in it comes takes a deflection from somewhere and beats Jayven and Chartham off and away with the points in which no one really deserved to have but ROBBED or not it was a fantastic game and well played to both sides every single boy played for the cause and did the clubs proud.

Man of the match Sam Waters for his outstanding defensive work

Team: J Holder, K Carter, S Waters (MOTM), B Waters, T Chandler, H Dwyer, W Washington,
N Allen, J Gransden, G Lilley, H Birch.

Match notes by J Water thanks.

Canterbury Youth “A” 6 – 2 Dover Rangers Colts “A”
8-11-09 Under 10 Cup
It was good conditions for a game of football ground was bit wet but firm and although it was cold it was dry and little wind. The game started well for both teams very even and limited chances for both teams until the 12th minute when Dover got a corner and great finish bottom left hand corner Canterbury 1-0 down whoops. Never mind need to get back in it and to be fair there is not a lot in it anyway Canterbury had a few good efforts Taylor Chandler going close and Nathan Allen from long range (if you can have such a thing in mini soccer ha-ha) ANYWAY just coming up to half time a nice break for Canterbury and William Washington crosses the ball well Taylor gets his head to the ball great goal 1-1 well played all-round. The boys seemed to have their passing head on today. Half time 1-1.

Second half started pretty much the same as the first both teams working hard but no one really taking over the game. Then Canterbury stepped up a gear and put a little more pressure on Dover and seemed to grab a little more energy from somewhere some fantastic looking up and passing from all William through and great volley goal 2- 1 then another great volley from Gener Lilley 3-1 the boys are on fire now every shot on target another great through ball from Henry Dwyer to William who defiantly had his shooting boots on goal 4 -1 you can see the smiles on the Canterbury faces a real joy not so for Dover though and some of their players starting to resort to kicking lumps out of Canterbury with Gener taking studs to the leg and Kieren taking a whack to the foot subs made and the physio table getting busy. Dover did break through a very good defensive display by Kieren and Sam the rock Waters to score again whoops 4- 2. Ben Mayne came on and got stuck in won the ball and then a great ball through to William again same result goal 5 -2 and to make sure he showed his man of the match performance to all he then had a bit of a solo run and stuck it in the back of the net again to make his forth and Canterbury's sixth a great and well deserved performance by everyone in the team. Final score 6 -2 to Canterbury well done all of you.

Team: J Holder, K Carter, S Waters, B Waters, H Dwyer, G Lilley, T Chandler, W Washington (MOTM), B Mayne, N Allen.

Match notes by Bens dad Nick Mayne so thank you.

Folkestone Invicta Youth “A” 2 – 4 Canterbury Youth “A”
1-11-09 Under 10 Division 3
Well no one was over impressed by playing today the weather was awful I should imagine managers and Fixture Secretaries everywhere were getting calls to see if the games had been cancelled but no the show must go on and it did. We had a trip to Folkestone and it was no different wind and rain and very muddy but as we kicked off the rain stopped and Canterbury had the early pressure good battling from Canterbury corner from which Folkestone keeper makes the save. Two mins later another great break confusion in the Folkestone defence Ben Waters scores his first goal of the season Canterbury take the lead 0 -1. Again another break leads to a throw in Nathan Allen with a monster throw for Halloween weekend (ha ha ha) Canterbury all have a go but no way threw so close Isaac Bartlett just unable to bring it down and get his shot just right. Pressure from both sides with both teams going close Canterbury keeper for today Jacob Warren makes some great saves. Folkestone keep pushing and then a break shot comes in and unfortunately ball just too wet and muddy Jacob spills it and Folkestone back in it 1-1. Problem both wingers Nathan Allen and Isaac Bartlett seem very slow and lost need a break on comes Hugo Birch and Jayven Holder. Hugo as a chance but can’t quite get it on target the game is very even and both teams trying hard to keep the ball. Then whoops another shot from Folkestone and Jacob fumbles again followed up and goal 2-1 need a break Half time comes let’s talk.....

Second half Canterbury come out fighting all the pressure just lacking the end result then a swift move from left to right sees Hugo pass to Jayven then Jayven quickly moves to Ben and goal great movement and passing 2-2 boys working hard. Another break for Canterbury and corner from the corner Keiren Carter puts a lovely ball in and Jayven headers it just over the bar. Keep going boys. Folkestone through again one on one with the keeper for the second time in this game and again Jacob in goal saves well and gets the ball clear. Keiren and Sam Waters playing very well at the back. Ball up the other end and a poor tackle on Hugo wins a free Kick, up steps Henry Dwyer who has been non stop running in this game. A few words from the manager JUST HIT THE TARGET. He does exactly that and what a great strike 2-3 Canterbury take the lead and as they apply more pressure another corner this time Keiren puts another good ball into the box it bobbles around and finally Jayven manages to push it over the line 2- 4 come on Canterbury last ten mins lets see this out whoops ref decides a foul was made in the box penalty to Folkestone. They step up good strike great save from the man of the match Jacob Warren, Canterbury win their first game of the season Folkestone 2 - 4 Canterbury well done everybody.

Team: H Dwyer, N Allen, J Holder, K Carter, I Bartlett, J Gransden, J Warren (MOTM), B Waters, S Waters, H Birch.

Match report by Jacobs dad Martin Warren many thanks.

Canterbury Youth “A” 1 – 11 Faversham Town Juniors
25-10-09 Under 10 Division 3
Well what can I say this was a day when things were looking good until poor Canterbury suffered their worst defeat of the season. It started relatively ok early nerves from both teams first ten mins a little frantic at both ends with Joe Gransden having to make a few early saves from the rampant Faversham Town. Then it all seemed to fall apart for Canterbury a quick break and Faversham were away and whoops 1-0 then less than 2 mins later whoops 2-0 Canterbury just seemed a little shell shocked but not to worry let’s keep going. Things just got worse Canterbury who managed to hold out for another 10 mins before a cross from the left was met with a half hearted header and a hand from jayven in the penalty box. So as a result 3-0 after that things were hard for Canterbury to sort out an injury to Taylor Chandler meant Isaac Bartlett came on and was also on the receiving end of the physical and technically gifted Faversham Town who just seemed to muscle Canterbury out of every challenge and every ball whoops 4-0 and double whoops 5-0 please give us the half time whistle. Thankfully it was half time let’s talk..........

After a maybe over emotional half time talk with a few come on lads you need to do a lot better than this thrown in Canterbury came out and for a brief moment looked like they could give Faversham a good second half but nooo things went back to bad again and from midfield Faversham pick the ball up 3 passes and whoops 6-0 .Suddenly something to get excited about a challenge won and from that Jayven redeems himself from the earlier nightmare of hand ball and puts a great ball down the line for William Washington to run onto bang first goal of the season for him 6-1 hooorrraaaaayyy. WHOOPS 7-1 OH AND WHOOPS 8-1 things became very uncomfortable to watch Faversham did not out play Canterbury more the case Canterbury did not play maybe a bit harsh but Canterbury were not their usually spirited fighting selves today and oh whoops 9-1 10-1 11-1 please blow the whistle can’t take anymore more .Thank goodness final whistle

Final score Canterbury youth A 1 - 11 Faversham town juniors..

Man of the match was William Washington

TEAM: G Lilley, T Chandler, H Dwyer, I Bartlett, J Gransden, W Washington (MOTM), S Waters, B Waters, J Holder, B Mayne.

Thanks to
by Dan Bartlett Isaac’s Dad for today’s match report.

Faversham Strike Force 6 – 2 Canterbury Youth “A”
Under 10 Division 3
It was a glorious day for football the sun was out and very little wind. On the field the boys all looked happy and ready for a good game. The opening exchanges saw both teams defence work hard both Kieren Carter and Sam Waters doing a great job at the back and Ben Waters in goal made a few good early saves. Up the other end William Washington working hard chasing the ball an early corner almost broke the deadlock for Canterbury Gener Lilley hit a great corner and a great header by Jayven Holder just a whisker wide good chance. That seemed to wake Faversham up and within minutes they broke well and whoops 1-0. Canterbury had a few chances Henry Dwyer just missed with a good effort and Jayven had another one also just wide. Not good news folks Faversham broke again with some great passing and whoops 2-0 then a screamer of a shot from their strike great goal flew top corner 3-0. Canterbury just kept going and Gener Lilley almost managed to squeeze one in but not to be. The second half started well again nothing in it but about ten mins in and whoops 4-0 to Faversham Nathan Allen was denied by the goal keeper Canterbury were pushing and still making it hard work for Faversham to play but slight nodding off period and whoops 5-0 . Oh no again 6-0 poor boys playing so well did not deserve this but Faversham seemed to take their chances and Canterbury just could not hit the target then a shot from Jayven saved by the keeper came back out and Henry was there to bang it home yippee 6-1 the boys just kept going all of them last 2 mins and another shot this time from Keiren Carter saved again but came out and Jayven lashed it home 6-2 and that was that final score 6-2 but well played to all the boys worked hard and I think they all enjoyed it.

Man of the match was Ben Waters for his great saves in the game probably kept the score down and he worked hard marshalling his defence.

Team: J Holder, S Waters, (MOTM) B Waters, W Washington, K Carter, H Dwyer, H Birch, N Allen, B Mayne, G Lilley.

Thanks to Nick Mayne for this week’s match report.

Canterbury Youth A 6 – 6 Dover Rangers Colts
27-9-09 Under 10 Division 3
Hi all well what a great game the battle of the bottom two if this is the sort of football that the bottom two are playing it just shows how tough the league is. Started well both teams up and down nothing in it some great early defending from Kieran Carter and Nathan Allen. Dover had the bit between their teeth from the start but Canterbury were ready for them. Back up the other end and Taylor Chandler causing problems for Dover's defence with some great backing from Henry Dwyer and Gener Lilley with Isaac Bartlett making life very difficult for their right back. Caught asleep for a few seconds from a long clearance Dover pushed through and whoops 1 - nil come on boys keep going still nothing in it ten mins in a great ball from the back to Taylor who slides a great ball through to Gener bang 1 - 1 great. From then on for the rest of the half all the boys from both teams were up and down playing some great football shots from both sides but no one could break the deadlock.

Second half Dover came out the quickest and within 5 minutes a great strike from their young lad unstopable 2 - 1 Dover then whoops 3 - 1 need to keep going boys. Canterbury corner and boys in the box everywhere up jumps the smallest lad on the pitch Henry great header 3 - 2 come on Canterbury now we on the up yes 3 - 3 Taylor with the goal. Canterbury are pushing for the win and a great shot by Jacob Warren saved by the goalkeeper but spilt to the feet of Hugo Birch 4 - 3 some great work rate coming from everyone . Dover come back and score 4 - 4 then whoops 5 - 4 to Dover we just need to concentrate up the other end corner for Canterbury Taylor takes it and scores great curling corner may have taken a faint touch from the defender but Taylor deserves the credit so all square again 5 - 5 free kick to Canterbury with 5 mins to go I told Henry to take it and just hit the target whoosh he hit the target alright in 6 - 5 to Canterbury if we can just hold on or 2 more mins whoops straight up the other end 6 - 6.
Final score 6-6 but what a game and probably a fair result.

TEAM G Lilley, B Mayne, H Birch, N Allen, J Warren, G Lilley, K Carter, T Chandler, J Gransden, H Dwyer, I Bartlett.
Match report notes by Hugos Dad Neil many thanks.

Chartham Sports 4 – 0 Canterbury Youth A
27-9-09 Under 10 Division 3
It was a beautiful day the sun was out and everyone seemed happy to be a part for the Sunday football feeling. The game started with a great pace little difference then whoops Chartham first to score, a corner came over and a good strike into the bottom corner 1 -0. So away we go suddenly Canterbury breaks great cross from Taylor Chandler bit of confusion in their defence ball comes out and a great strike from Henry Dwyer hits the cross bar and bounces out to safety. Whoops Chartham score again great running from their striker 2 - 0 never mind keep going. Well Chartham's third was a little unfortunate to be allowed corner came in and a great defensive header from Jayven Holder cleared then got lofted back in goalkeeper Joe Gransden got underneath the ball and so did their striker (have to say felt height was the problem here) striker leans on goalkeeper ball bundled in the net along with poor Joe 3 -0. Things starting to get on top of our boys a bit for the next ten minutes or so, slowly but surely Canterbury with their true grit started to get back at them with some great work throughout good running from Henry, Taylor and Isaac Bartlett caused their goalkeeper to make at least 5 good saves. Chartham break away and whoops 4 -0. Then right on the stroke of half time Canterbury break and a cross comes in hand ball by a flustered Chartham defender penalty. Taylor steps up good shot GREAT save from the keeper. Half time 4 - 0 NEED TO WORK HARDER.

Second half Canterbury came out fighting won every ball good running and support from everyone we kept Chartham to 1 maybe 2 long range shots other than that William Washington had 4 great shots saved by the keeper and so did Taylor Henry and just about everyone else I think that goalkeeper was by far man of the game awesome display between the sticks. Canterbury kept going and going in search for the goal just would not go in this really was very one sided half all Canterbury we did everything but score great performance from everyone very proud. Final Score Chartham 4 - 0 Canterbury.
MAN OF THE MATCH HENRY DWYER (ran and ran all game)

TEAM: Isaac Bartlett , Henry Dwyer (MOTM), Joe Gransden , Sam Waters ,Ben Waters, Jayven Holder , Kieren Carter ,William Washington ,Jacob Warren , Taylor Chandler.

WELL PLAYED SECOND HALF NEED TO DO THE SAME NEXT WEEK all match.

My thanks to Ruth Washington for this week’s write up.

Canterbury Youth A 1 – 5 Canterbury Eagles
13-9-09 Under 10 Division 3
It was a great day for the first game of the season dry sunny and not too cold Canterbury in their changed strip of blue and white due to kit clash with Eagles. This was the first game of the season and was a derby game keenly contested first half on a very hard ground the ball just bounced and bounced, very hard for both teams to control. An even half and we were very unlucky to come in at half time 1 - 0 down but heads still up and spirit high.

Second half started ok then a little rhythm lost and concentration in this half allowed Canterbury Eagles to come strong and start to dominate the game 2-0 then whoops 3 -0. Then man of the match with his tireless running from the midfield Taylor Chandler broke off with a great individual run and finished superbly 3-1. Come on boys we could be back in this whoops unfortunately not a goal kick for Eagles the ball just bounced once about 5ft high and straight over poor Ben Waters in goal 4 -1 then with minutes to go a fifth goal but spirited game for the first of many tough games this year. Final score 5 – 1.

Well done boys keep going!

Team: B Waters, J Holder, K Carter, S Waters, N Allen, B Mayne, W Washington, G Lilley, T Chandler (MOTM ), H Birch.

My thanks to Williams Dad Tony for this weeks write up.
