Canterbury Youth 2-2 Herne Bay Youth
12-10-08 EKYFL under 11’s Div 1
Once again Canterbury surrendered the lead and allowed the visiting side to draw level in this keenly contested local derby. Leo Carroll-Jones was first to unlock the Herne Bay defensive fortress with a clean strike inside the six yard box. By half time the sides were level at one a piece.
In the second half Canterbury took the lead when George Lillford collected the ball on the halfway line, lit the afterburners and headed for goal. The finish was text book stuff and Canterbury looked like securing their first win of the season. Herne Bay, also hungry for their first win had other ideas and drew level 10 minutes from time. In the end there was nothing to separate these two evenly matched sides.

Canterbury Youth 3 - 3 Dover Rangers
21-9-08 Molten East Kent Youth League, under 11’s Div 1
The under 11’s let a 3-1 advantage slip at home surrendering two vital points to misfortune and a tenacious Dover side.
Newly promoted Dover, took the lead 10 minutes into the game. Canterbury took another 10 minutes to settle before they equalised through a well worked team goal: A gift wrapped cross was skilfully headed down by Josh Todd into the path of the ever threatening, George Lillford. He cannoned home an unstoppable shot to draw the sides’ level. This was his first league goal for his new Club. It won’t be his last!
Chris Walker added a second when he lofted a speculative shot from distance catching the keeper off his line. Shaun Black’s unwavering industry was finally rewarded and Canterbury finished the half 3-1 up.
All credit must go to Dover who sprang out of the traps in the second half putting the home side under pressure. The Canterbury keeper, Lewis Curry made some spectacular saves but the relentless pressure from Dover finally paid off and they scored twice more without reply. The final five minutes was frantic end to end stuff with both sides fighting desperately hard to find a winner. The final whistle ended the game with honours even.
