Tight Cup Victory
Herne Bay Harriers Under 16s: 0 – Canterbury Youth Under 16s: 1
Canterbury edged a close game in the second round of the Under 16s Cup at St Nicholas sports ground. Herne Bay started brightly, passing the ball well but not testing Paddy Jackaman in the Canterbury goal.
The only goal of the game came from a Herne Bay attack that was stopped by Mahel Koch. Koch advanced swiftly with the ball and passed to William Andrews, who in turn fed Adam Hogben who struck a sweet shot into the corner of the net from a tight angle.
The second half saw Canterbury in the ascendancy with chances and shots from Hogben and Samik Shrestha The stars of the Canterbury performance though were the back four of Jack Brown, the man of the match Joe Goldbacher, Mahel Koch and Tommy Warren, who gave the Herne Bay forwards little opportunity to equalise.
And so Canterbury progress but will have to play better to progress to the latter stages of the competition.
