Under 16’s Match Report – Folkestone Invicta Youth FC U16 Vs CYFC U16

Folkestone Invicta Youth FC Under 15s: 1 – Canterbury Youth FC Under 15s: 1

Canterbury drew with league champions Folkestone in a close game on Sunday.

With a swirling wind and tight pitch, the game condensed, with little fluent football from either side.  Playing with the wind Folkestone had more possession and better first half chances, but it was poor defending to allow them to go 1-0 with a shot from inside the area.

Canterbury produced little in the first half apart from a scramble from a corner; a Seamus Mohan shot and a Charlie Nicholson effort.  The second half started more brightly for the visitors.  Although not creating too many chances the midfield began to exert more pressure with the man of the match Brandon Wardle dangerous and the defence led by Joe Goldbacher solid.

Folkestone though grew into the game and missed a couple of clear chances as well as drawing good saves from Jay Foreman.  But Canterbury didn’t give up, a chance came and went for Nicholson before a Paddy Jackaman long throw-in fell to Nicholson who buried the chance at the second attempt.  The game finished soon after, with Canterbury leaving the happier side.
