Canterbury Youth secured a memorable victory in the Albert and Gill Baines Memorial Cup Final at Ramsgate FC on Thursday 30th April.
Canterbury Youth Under 16’s: 2 – Dynamo Youth Under 16’s: 0
The first half was tight affair, with Dynamo shading possession, while Canterbury, driven on by Jonathan McAllister in midfield, had more half-chances with Charlie Nicholson working hard up front. The second started in the same manner but gradually Canterbury began to exert greater pressure and broke the deadlock with a Nicholson long shot from a narrow angle on the right flank finding it’s way into the net.
From this point, Canterbury began to dominate, peppering the Dynamo goal with shots and shutting out any opposition chances through their rock solid defence led by man of the match Mahel Koch and Joe Goldbacher. The second goal game from a Paddy Jackaman long throw, flicked on by Adam Hogben and clinically dispatched through a rare right-foot finish by Jacob Williams. An excellent second half and consistent performances across the pitch guaranteed that Canterbury finished the season as cup winners.
